- An employee assistance program (EAP) is an employee benefit program that assists employees with personal problems and/or work-related problems that may impact their job performance, health, mental and emotional well-being. Thankfully more and more companies are including these programs as part of the benefits for their employees.
Work is important for our self esteem and our quality of life. This is why, when you are unable to perform or have to take a period of leave from work, it can exacerbate your condition, rather than making it better. It is important to have independent advice and support to help you to identify solutions to the problems that you are facing.
I have worked with a wide range of professionals who have experienced work related stress. I have worked with healthcare professionals, emergency services personnel, staff from corporate setting and manual labourers.
Healthcare professionals, humanitarian workers and emergency services personnel are at risk of burn out and vicarious trauma. This is due to the level of trauma that they are exposed to in their day to day work.
We will carry out a thorough assessment to identify what may be contributing to the problems and to assist you to identify self care strategies and to support you to put them in to practice.
